Get to Know Callie...

For as long as I can remember (and probably even before then), I’ve always had a passion for infants and children. I've helped little ones and their families from New York to San Francisco and even internationally. As my life has shifted, so have the roles I play (babysitter, nanny, teacher, parent, counselor/ coach), but one thing has remained constant: a love of children.

I grew up in Long Beach, CA before matriculating to Colorado University-Boulder. I continued my Eastern migration and planted a flag in New York during my early 20s. It was in New York where I truly realized that i could devote my professional life to working with children and their families. I earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College of the City University of New York. During my time in New York, I worked in numerous school settings throughout the city. This time cemented my professional passion, but having met my now husband who was returning back to SF, the time was right to make the move back to the West Coast.

I taught in preschools in SF, including helping to start up an early childhood education program at Google. While the classroom environment was great, I was starting a family of my own and wanted a professional experience that provided greater flexibility but also allowed for more individuated attention working with children and their families.

My eldest daughter (now 13 and maybe too good of a sleeper!) was a sub-optimal sleeper, to say the least, and I now had first hand experience of what life was like with such a substantial sleep deficit. I read every book on infant sleep available -not that I recommend anyone else doing that! Not finding the results we were looking for, my husband and I drearily and wearily sought the assistance of a professional sleep consultant.  This turned out to be an incredibly enriching, rewarding and edifying experience! Not only were we on the road to having a great sleeper, I had found a vocation where I could uniquely combine my educational and professional experience with my passion for young children. I wouldn't simply be able to sympathize with families, I'd truly be able to empathize with them. This empathy is a crucial ingredient when I artfully craft a unique plan from the myriad techniques/options available for getting little ones to sleep!
